FABRIC PRINTS

I researched alot of fabric print images. Some of the prints were very intricate and unique. Many of them were simple, and others were very eratic. But even through all of the different types of fabric prints all of them still were very structured. It wasn't the shapes or the colors themselves that brought them together, but the pattern that all of these elements were brought together by. The arrangement and the repetition of the fabrics elements made a unifying print because of the pattern. If there was no pattern to join the shapes and colors together then the fabric wouldn't look clean or organized. There would be no rhythm in the fabric and it would make a very static print. The most important component of makimg a fabric print is the pattern that the artist chooses to make. As i was looking at the fabric prints i realized that the colors and the shapes weren't picked by random, but that they were strategically placed to go perfecting with the pattern itself. What i learned from viewing all of the fabric prints is that in pattern making everything goes harmoniously together. The color, the shape, and the pattern could not hold by themselves, that they all have to be together to make it work. There is no right way to make a pattern, simple and complex are all great. The one thing that can affect if your pattern is successful is to make sure that all of your elements work together harmoniously.

COMPOSITION

VALUE

To be completly honest i have never done anything like this. I found it very difficult to do my 10 step scale, iam not too sure that i did it right but i tried my best. The only thing that i would change is to have more instruction on how to do it. I am sure that alot of people knew how, but for the ones who didn't it would have been very helpful. For my composition i wasn't too sure on what exactly to do. So i just drew a shape and then picked the values that i wanted to use. the composition was alot easier to me and i enjoyed that part of the project. Overall i wish i knew alittle more about it before, but i think that i have an ok grasp of value.

String activity

I loved the string activity because you had the freedom to do whatever you wanted. When i first got started i was just trying to attach the string to as many things as possible. But as i went along i started thinking more of how would this look if i did this. I was so excited when i used all of my string. The cleanup seemed impossible, but it wasn't that bad. It showed me that you just have to jump in there and start doing something, even though it's chaotic in the beginning it later begins to develop into something.

line and shape

Today in class we did an assignment on line and shape. I actually really liked the activity. i enjoyed figuring out how i was going to connect all of the pages together with a single line that had to take the form of a straight, curved, geometric shape, and organic shape. i liked the thinking process that was involved, and it reinforced the idea that the choices that you choose to make should have a reason.

1.Which of the images a,b,c,or d are lines? b and c.
2.Which of the images a,b,c, or d are shapes? a and d.
3.what makes a line? A line is one dimensional.
4.What makes a shape? A shape has a definite form, and it can have many dimensions.

Modern

DESCRIBE:
It looks like a factory that creates musical insturments and other interesting gadgets. There are creatures that are on the ground that are crafting the objects. Some of the objects are floating in the air and there are others that are on the ground that extend up to the ceiling. Most of the objects have intricate shapes. There are alot of colors in the piece. There is a window in the top right corner of the piece, which shows a blue sky with a black triangle and a curved red line next to it. There is a sun above them that is half black and half white.

INTERPRET:
I like this piece because it shows another civilization.By having the window that shows the elements outside it suggests that this is an actual place. All of the images are not unusual either. Some of them are recognizable, like the musical notes and the fish.

EVALUATE:
This piece works because you can still identify with it.
